I really like this dress, and I love the pattern, which honestly surprised me. I ordered this dress in a Medium, depending on fabric, I usually order IHOT dresses in a Small or Medium.

Okay, so let me say, I am not usually a butterflies, florals, or leafy print kind of person at all. I am also NOT a longer, ankle length kind of person…just looks strange on a tall person. But there is something about this one that just works. The mix of teals, blues, and greens pulled me in immediately, with subtle pops of yellow and just a hint of pink and purple. It’s tropical without being loud. I can’t even fully explain it, it’s just really beautiful, plus with a pair of wedges, this dress will look great this summer.

The fabric is lightweight and flowy (80% rayon, 20% nylon), which makes it perfect for warm weather. It drapes nicely and feels comfortable on, though it does wrinkle fairly easily. I wouldn’t rely on this being wrinkle-free straight out of a suitcase, but I do think hanging it in a steamy bathroom would smooth it out nicely.

Now, the reason this lands at four stars instead of five comes down to fit, specifically in the bodice and waist area. As a reminder, I am 5’10 and 155lbs, with a long torso and long arms. So, the twist front is cute, but there’s a seam under the bust that tends to puff or billow out in a way that’s a little distracting once you notice it. From then down it goes flat/fitted…it doesnt look like it should be there. Then, on my body, this dress creates a boxier silhouette than intended.

This isn’t a flaw in the dress so much as a body-type mismatch. I have a long torso, and dresses with sewn-in waistlines often hit higher on me than they’re meant to. Instead of sitting at the narrowest part of my waist, this one lands closer to the middle of my ribcage. Because of that, when the skirt flares back out where hips are supposed to be, it creates a straighter, more square shape rather than a tapered, fitted look.

If you’re tall or long-torsoed like me, this is something to keep in mind. The model photos make it look more fitted through the waist, but on my frame, the proportions just don’t line up quite the same.

That said, I’m still really excited to wear this dress. While it’s not the most flattering iHot dress I own fit-wise, the pattern absolutely makes up for it. For whatever reason, the colors, the tropical feel, this print is a total chef’s kiss for me, and that’s not something I say lightly given how outside my usual style comfort zone it is. However, for $40…that’s where you need to decide for yourself. It’s not the cheapest dress, and you need to decide if you love that pattern (mind you there are other patterns too)…and what doesnt fit me just right, may fit you perfectly!
